What we do:

The Lead Standards Development Organization (SDO) Strategist is responsible for coordinating the Supernal ER&D team efforts in support of the various industry standards organizations as well as select industry trade groups. This role is a technical lead that will drive the ER&D team to a consensus position on issues regarding new standards and will ensure that the company’s interests are well represented in all committees. This role collaborates with all of ER&D, Legal, Strategy, and must maintain a close working relationship with the Policy team.

What you can do:

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate Supernal’s SDO engagement policy for the ER&D team
  • Achieve consensus on and manage unified Supernal positions within ER&D, as well as with Policy, to be proposed and lobbied for within the SDO bodies by individual Supernal participants within these groups
  • Identify key SDO working groups and work with ER&D to attain leadership positions in these target areas
  • Determine adequate representation for Supernal within the relevant standards bodies and ensure that the correct resources are deployed with appropriate direction
  • Represent Supernal’s interests and convey Supernal’s consensus on select industry trade association committees
  • Direct Supernal’s position on standards voting ballots with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Support the Civil Certification Team in the development of the Means and Methods of Compliance where a new and novel approach is required
  • Other duties as assigned

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other relevant field
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Extensive experience working with FAA, EASA, NASA or other government regulatory bodies
  • Extensive experience in participating industry standards bodies (e.g. RTCA, ASTM, EUROCAE, SAE, etc…)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sense of urgency, proactive delivery of communication and follow up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport, trust, and influence
  • Must independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Proven success in leading and motivating an interdisciplinary team
  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Master’s degree preferred
