Sr. Avionics Software Engineer

What we do:

The Senior Avionics Software Engineer is responsible for assigned components for a groundbreaking new aviation system that includes hardware/software, selection of suppliers, and make or buy decisions. The role will be accountable for certain connecting systems, applications, sensors, etc. without errors

What you can do:

  • Development of Flight Critical Electric Vehicle Battery Management System Interface and critical connection points
  • Building interfaces to peripheral avionics such as ADS-B Transponder, TCAS, NavCom Radios, Displays, Flight Controls and other avionics
  • Apply Aviation I/O Protocols for Serial Databus Communications Incorporate Datalink, Radar, Sensors, Video, Cameras (both InfraRed and Visual)
  • Develop high and low-level software requirements
  • Develop embedded flight-worthy software and product development software tools
  • Actively Participating in the Software Development Process and Certification using DO-178B/C
  • Apply software engineering knowledge in support of the design, development, T&E, implementation, maintenance, and administration of new and/or existing software systems
  • Support developing/updating applicable program documentation for software engineering relevant requirements
  • Apply an understanding of aeronautical vehicle systems and/or airborne or related ground systems avionics operational flight program capabilities to support the core engineering tasks as they relate to software engineering, software security, and cybersecurity
  • Build and approve software artifacts
  • Collaborate with internal multi-functional teams and external customers and certification authorities
  • Provide estimations for new software pursuits and rework activities
  • Requirements generation, design and architecture development, integration, verification, validation, and document for existing and new safety critical products
  • Monitor and report project execution using standard metrics for scheduling and budget to leadership
  • Model Base Design techniques used in the development life cycle process
  • Develop and demonstrate a deep technical understanding of product families

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics related field
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of proven experience in a similar role (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Model-Based design experience using MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience with C/C++ or similar high-level programming language

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Master’s degree preferred
