Sr. Test Engineer

What we do:

The Test Engineer works closely with core engineering and operations teams on planning and execution of ground test campaigns. This role is a critical contributor in enabling safe, efficient ground testing. The role is responsible for developing test plans, test set-up design and implementation, and participating in test readiness reviews, risk assessments, and writing test reports. The Test Engineer will ensure the proper configuration for testing, coordinates ground tests, performs data analysis, writes test reports, documents test results, and troubleshoots issues.

What you can do:

  • Support propulsion teams’ system design in support of testing requirements, includes schematic generation, hardware specification and technician support for installation and checkouts
  • Lead test plan writing efforts
  • Prepare and present test readiness reviews in support of test programs
  • Support the installation of the test hardware on the test stand, integration, and verification of instrumentation
  • Support the lead Test Engineer in test execution and troubleshooting
  • Assist with post test data analysis and lead test report writing
  • Support testing at the main facility as well as offsite locations, potentially for extended periods of time
  • Other duties as assigned

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor’s in an applicable engineering field or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering testing or similar line of work (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of test instrumentation and data acquisition and have strong configuration management skills
  • Experience authoring test plans and reports
  • Experience managing deficiencies, limitations, and restrictions in a lab test environment
  • Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic laboratory setting with a diverse technical team environment characterized by frequently changing tasks, new priorities, and quick responses
  • Experience with laboratory test system design, hardware integration and support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow-up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Proficiency in report writing and developing manuals
  • Must possess a strong safety culture

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Master’s degree in relevant engineering field
  • Experience testing complex propulsion systems, electric propulsion experience
  • Experience in FAA certification test programs and thorough knowledge of Part 21 and Part 23 or 25 or 27 or 29
  • Proficiency in data analysis with MATLAB, IADS, other tools
  • Familiarity with rotor, transmission, and/or propulsion certification and safety of flight test planning and procedures
