UX Manager & Strategist

Supernal is at the forefront of creating emerging mobility solutions that will foster the development of human-centered cities. We are designing a completely new electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft tailored to the mobility needs of future cities. This allows passengers a seamless intermodal journey that safely transports them to their final destination. What we do:

The UX Manager & Strategist is a critical leadership role responsible for deeply understanding, researching, representing, and advocating for the user with evidence and research for Supernal products (e.g., advanced air mobility vehicle, software solutions) internally and externally. The role regularly collaborates with Engineering, Research & Development, Hyundai Design Centers, other members of the Digital Operations team, third party partners, and the business at large while leading a team of UX experts.

What you can do:

Develop, implement, and champion data driven UX and user-centered design

  • Advocate for the user with data and evidence throughout the product lifecycle
  • Thoughtfully balance opposing requirements, research findings, and innovative thinking to generate outstanding, strategic solutions
  • Build and actively maintain the UX strategy, project plan, vision statement, and user requirements aligned with business objectives
  • Anticipate user needs to craft an authentic end to end mobility experience
  • Establish and cultivate partnerships throughout the business to champion a successful user experience

Lead team in data driven user research and testing

  • Manage quantitative and qualitative user research and testing design, implementation, and analysis in close collaboration with engineers and designers
  • Analyze open source and collected user data to discover opportunities and recommend design directions
  • Lead development and use of UX artifacts and requirements
  • Develop UX artifacts (e.g., storyboards, personas, wireframes, rapid digital prototypes, context scenarios)
  • Translate research results and OS literature into user requirements for Supernal products

Collaborate with internal and external partners

  • Manage third party vendors and partners for UX support and collaboration
  • Build strong, deep relationships throughout the company including engineering, design, and commercialization experts
  • Lead, grow, and develop outcome driven, yet collaborative and nurturing team
  • Additional tasks as assigned

What you can contribute:

  • BS/BA in Human Computer Interaction, Ethnography, Anthropology, or a related field
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Dedication to developing solutions to real world user needs with obsession for the users
  • Strong understanding of combining User-Centered Design principles with user research for physical and digital products
  • Analytical skills and ability to translate quantitative and qualitative data into valuable product information and user requirements
  • Strong service-based leadership skills with commitment to “trust, but validate,” gather input then decide, and staff development
  • Knowledge of UX tools (e.g., Microsoft suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, InVision)
  • Experience crafting UX for complex products based on user data
  • Successful ability to develop innovative solutions to problems and groundbreaking design
  • Outstanding presentation and communication abilities, verbal, visual, and written
  • Knowledge of Lean UX principles and ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment
  • Comfortable working face to face or in virtual settings across multiple time zones
  • Self-organizing and self-starting.
  • Continuous learner, independent worker, and strong decision maker (with minimal supervision).
  • Collaborative teammate with dedication to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Graduate degree in relevant field
  • Experience in highly regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, automotive, healthcare, finance)
  • Experience with air vehicles, aviation, or other mobility products
