Lead Test & Evaluation Instrumentation and Calibration Engineer

What we do:

The Lead Test & Evaluation Instrumentation Calibration Engineer is responsible for supporting the execution of all test programs (laboratory, ground, and flight), ensure logistics are coordinated for successful completion of testing. Will develop process and procedures for laboratory build-up and maintenance, supporting instrumentation and calibration quality objectives, configuration control, and conformity requirements are met. This role will support laboratory, ground, and flight test requirements. This position will collaborate with the Test & Evaluation teams to develop processes around procurement and management of instrumentation and calibration test equipment.

What you can do:

  • Provide guidance and high-level requirements instrumentation and calibration of test parts to support development, verification, and certification testing
  • Lead laboratory instrumentation and calibration activities to support lab, ground, flight test activities
  • Coordinate with Flight Test Instrumentation leader as needed
  • Lead troubleshooting
  • Interface with Program & Project Leaders, Engineering, Safety, Quality Management, Procurement, Program Management Office, and Test organization members in support of the following oversight responsibilities:
    • Maintaining alignment ISO 9000 standards as required
    • Instrumentation configuration management
    • Instrumentation equipment procurement and management
    • Laboratory procedures development
    • Oversee the management of timely Instrumentation and Calibration support to meet program milestones
  • Other tasks as assigned

What you can contribute:

  • ABET accredited bachelor's degree in an engineering field
  • 10+ years of Aerospace experience. (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this role)
  • Experience leading a team of technical personnel
  • Program Management experience
  • In depth knowledge of various transducer types and associated calibration methods
  • Strong understanding of strain gauge selection criteria, various materials and measurement types, installation methods and installation inspection
  • Solid understanding of development of calibration fixtures for instrumented parts and various measurement types
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to resolve problems in a functional manner
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Aviation QMS experience preferred
  • Master's degree desired.
