Sr. Manager of Utility Systems

Irvine, California


Supernal is at the forefront of creating emerging mobility solutions that will foster the development of human-centered cities. What we do:

The Sr. Manager of Utility Systems is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and verification of systems for the certified production aircraft. The position will lead the Utility Systems group as well as communicate with management and other teams across the organization (e.g., Procurement, Supply Chain, external supplies, etc.). Within engineering, the Utility Systems Group will closely work with other groups within Vehicle Management Systems, Powertrain, and Airframe departments.

What you can do:

  • Design, implement, verify, and qualify the aircraft utility systems
  • Provide technical support for the development of the aircraft systems such as: Landing Gear, Cabin Environmental Control System, Fire Suppression System, Anti-Icing System, Active Vibration Suppression, Float Kits, and utility actuation
  • Oversee and lead a team in the development of aircraft systems
  • Collaborate with the Powertrain team on aircraft thermal management
  • Collaborate with Airframe and AIT team for system development and interfaces
  • Manage supplier/partner for landing gear system
  • Work with Supply Chain and Procurement for COTS equipment and any supplier sourced equipment or systems
  • Manage and oversee the cost, schedule, and status of the Utility Systems Group

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or other related engineering field
  • A minimum 20 years of experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Experience with commercial aircraft
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with development and qualification of Landing Gear systems on VTOL aircraft
  • Experience with development and qualification of aircraft cabin environmental control systems
  • Experience with ARP 4754 and development of systems on commercial aircraft
  • Familiarity with ARP 4761 and system safety process
  • Familiarity with aircraft certification process
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Self-motivated and able to work in new and challenging situations
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Rotorcraft experience
