What we do:

The Dynamic Systems Analysis Manager is responsible for all aspects of eVTOL aircraft dynamic component analysis (i.e. rotor hubs, rotating controls, bearings, composite rotor blades, etc.) and support of certification efforts for such components. Responsibilities also include management and development of finite element models (FEM), static structural analysis, fatigue structural analysis (safe life and damage tolerance methodology), building block test requirements, and validation of all structural performance for rotor systems, Electric Propulsion Units (EPUs), and other dynamic systems. The position will support the building of prototype, flight test, and production aircraft. The role is responsible for all dynamic systems operating safely throughout the life of the aircraft.

What you can do:

  • Manage the Dynamic Systems Stress team
  • Ensure the rotor systems and EPU design meets structural design criteria and regulatory requirements
  • Execution of all required structural analysis to ensure the safety of the dynamic systems
  • Engage in meetings with external entities including certification authorities
  • Develop building block test programs to validate analysis methods and ensure all testing is completed in accordance with certification plans
  • Ensure structural installations meet regulatory and company requirements
  • Work closely with test group to define testing requirements and provide support for component-level testing
  • Author the structural analysis manual and co-author structural design criteria and structural design manual
  • Closely work with Materials & Process team to develop material allowables and design values
  • Manage the durability and damage tolerance (DaDT) of critical components common to the rotor and EPU
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all Supernal Safety programs
  • Execute any safety-related responsibilities designated by the Supernal Chief Safety Office
  • Ensure appropriate coordination with the Chief Safety Office
  • May require up to 10% domestic and international travel
  • Other duties as assigned

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s or PH.D., in a related field preferred
  • A minimum of eight (8) years experience in all aspects of structural analysis of helicopter and/or tiltrotor rotor systems (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Experience with rotorcraft/tiltrotor development programs
  • Experience leading teams and project management
  • Experience with developing rotor and/or drive system test plans
  • Experience with data collection and analysis
  • Prior background with rotor and/or drive system tests
  • Experience with structural engineering and certification tests
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods
  • Knowledge of the fundamental principles of structural analysis methods, including for critical parts (composite/metallic/non-metallic), and not relying on black-box tools
  • Project management skills including budget and resource planning
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality
  • Ability to adapt and perform in a fast-paced environment

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Knowledge of organizational tools such as MS Project, JIRA, and Confluence are preferred
  • Experience with prototyping, engineering/certification/flight testing and Part 27/29 certification is preferred
  • Experience with finite element analysis software – ANSYS preferred

 

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is:
$175,000$215,000 USD
